Hourline: World Clock ยท Updated 1 October 2026
Your saved cities, settings, and calendar stay on your device. Hourline sends limited usage and diagnostic information to PostHog to help improve the app. This page describes that information, what the app sends to Apple to show the weather and to write City Stroll, what it sends to another service only when you choose one, and what RevenueCat receives when you buy Hourline Pro.
Your cities and settings
The cities you save and your settings are stored only on your device, where the app and its widgets read them. If you use Hourline on Apple Watch, the app sends your cities, your settings, and their latest weather to Hourline on your watch. They are not sent to the developer or to anyone else.
Weather
To show the weather, Hourline and its Apple Watch app ask Apple's WeatherKit service for conditions and forecasts at the coordinates of your cities. These are the fixed coordinates of city centers from the app's catalog, never your location. Apple's privacy policy applies to that service. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
Calendar
If you turn on Events on the Ruler, Hourline reads your calendar events on your device to show them on World Time's ruler. They never leave your device. When you add an event you planned in Hourline, the app asks only to add events and writes the event to the calendar you choose, which syncs it as it syncs your other events.
Photos
When you save a picture of the clock, Hourline asks only to add it to your photos. It cannot see your photo library.
City Stroll
On devices with Apple Intelligence, City Stroll writes a fictional conversation with Apple's models, on your device or on Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Each request carries the city, its local time and weather, the places on the walk, the language to write in, and the conversation so far; never your name, your location, or your own data. Apple Maps finds the places and walking routes near the city's center, and Wikidata, run by the Wikimedia Foundation, is asked for background on those places by their names. Apple's privacy policy applies to Apple's services, and Wikimedia's to Wikidata.
Where the app offers them, you can instead choose a model from OpenAI, by signing in to ChatGPT or with your own API key, or from Cerebras, with your own API key. The same requests then go to that company under your account and its own privacy policy (OpenAI, Cerebras). Your key and your sign-in are kept in your device's Keychain and are never sent to the developer. The count of each model's tokens stays on your device.
Purchases
Apple processes payment for Hourline Pro. We use RevenueCat to manage the purchase and access to Pro. For this, RevenueCat receives the purchase information from the App Store, a random identifier the app creates for your purchases (never your Apple Account, name, or email address), and basic device information, including your phone's model. This information supports purchases, help with them, and purchase figures, not advertising or tracking across apps. RevenueCat does not receive your cities, settings, or location, and handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Sharing
Pictures and times you share from Hourline go only where you send them.
Usage and diagnostics
App Store and enabled TestFlight versions use PostHog's US Cloud service to understand which features are used and diagnose problems. Reports include screen and feature categories, counts of saved cities, purchase or restore outcomes without purchase identifiers, weather request timing and outcomes, app version and build, language, device and operating system information, and crash and performance diagnostics. A random installation identifier groups events from the same installation. It is separate from the purchase identifier and is not linked to your Apple Account, name, or email. TestFlight and App Store reports are kept separate in analytics.
These reports do not include the cities you choose, their coordinates, your location, calendar contents, search text, City Stroll conversations, credentials, screenshots, or recordings. Session replay and automatic screen or input capture are disabled. Crash reason text is removed; crash types and stack frames are retained to diagnose the code. Hourline disables IP-based location enrichment, although PostHog receives the network address needed to accept a request. PostHog handles this information under its privacy policy.
No tracking
Hourline has no accounts of its own or advertising. Usage and purchase analytics are used to improve Hourline, not to track you across other companies' apps or websites or target advertising. The app does not use an advertising identifier or create a PostHog person profile.
